Everyone loves to have an excellent set of teeth. After all, when you have a good set of teeth, a good smile is guaranteed. Today, dental science has progressed and has reached the stage where dental professionals can easily solve any kind of dental problem through modern treatments. One such treatment that has become quite popular is laser gum surgery.

Laser gum surgery is used to address periodontal diseases that could lead to tooth loss. It is a procedure where lasers are used to remove the tartar from the tooth's surface, from their roots, and from the deep pockets that have formed in the gums. And the best part is that this treatment is entirely painless.

Laser Gum Surgery Procedure

Laser treatment is a bone-building and tissue-preserving procedure. The dentist uses a laser to kill bacteria, cut out, and remove infected tissue from infected gum surfaces and pockets. When the infected tissue is removed, and the slightest part of the root is exposed, the calculus is removed with an ultrasonic root cleaner instead of hand tools.

Finally, the laser is used to warm the stem cell that contains blood in the pocket, creating a seal of tissue against the tooth root. Usually, the laser treatment ensures that no tissues are removed, or gum tissue is reduced to a lower level.

Benefits of Laser Gum Surgery

Using laser gum treatment has benefits that may be absent in other gum treatments. These include:

  • Shorter healing time: Because the treatment effectively kills bacteria and removes infected tissues, the healing time in this process is amazingly fast. This is why more people prefer this treatment over the traditional method.
  • Limits bleeding: Generally, gingivitis patients bleed a lot, But laser gum surgery ensures that the bleeding is reduced or may even completely stop it.
  • Can be optimized: The power and the wavelength of the laser beam can be adjusted based on the patient’s level of gum disease. This gives an enormous amount of control over the procedure and allows for the most efficient and effective treatment. Thus, the procedure can be done smoothly.

Laser gum surgery is less time-consuming and more effective in addressing periodontal and other related diseases than the traditional method.
